Malwazela (performing as DJ Swing) is a powerhouse producer, artist, and entrepreneur hailing from Inanda, Durban. As the visionary behind Spliff Entertainment, he has spent over a decade anchoring the sound of KwaZulu-Natal, seamlessly bridging the gap between hardcore South African Hip-Hop and the infectious rhythms of Amapiano.
His latest single Iyah Ft SPN is a hustle song. Sung in both English and isiZulu the magic happened at Ndurex’s studio. After Ndurex crafted the beat, SPN laid down the infectious chorus. However, the track needed a lyrical force to bridge the gaps—that’s where Malwazela stepped in. After delivering a first verse that set an incredibly high bar, it became clear that the energy was unmatched. Malwazela took full creative control, sliding in with a second verse to complete the vision, and the rest was history.

“Iyah” is a high-energy Trap track, the lyrics use a lot of South African street slang and references to the grind. “Better believe we are the true creators…”
Lyrics – I’m a big baller with the Crypto. I’m a big baller with the Crypto ,There is no resting here, we will always be working, I don’t play around, I’m focused on the paper (money), There’s no time for sleep, we’re pushing the mission, From the 031 (Durban), it’s like the stuff arrives and we’ve already heard about it. We are the Kings of this Hip Hop game”
A cornerstone of his career is his extensive production discography and high-profile collaborations. He notably produced six tracks on Big Zulu’s seminal debut album, Ushun weNkabi, and handled the production for six tracks on Shon G’s album, Mpumelelo. His studio expertise has seen him collaborate and feature with industry titans including Duncan, Zakwe, Musiholiq, and Musel, among many others, establishing him as a trusted architect of the Durban sound.
Expanding his sonic footprint, he also dominates the Amapiano scene as one half of the duo uLwazi No Makhula. The group has delivered numerous hits, showcasing his versatility in moving between lyric-heavy rap production and the high-energy, dance-floor-ready vibes of the Amapiano movement.
With the 2026 release of the single “Iyah“, Malwazela continues to evolve his “trial and error” philosophy—a theme also explored in his 2025 book—into a professional standard of excellence. His journey from the streets of Inanda to major album credits reflects a disciplined “hustle-first” lifestyle that defines his music and his role as a leading independent voice in the South African music industry.
Iyah” was born from a relentless hunger for success in the music industry. Our goal was to create a cross-cultural anthem with mass appeal, blending English and isiZulu to speak directly to an ambitious generation of youth. We believe in leading by example, and this track is the sonic proof of that mission. Watch this space for more music drops.
