The 2024 Cape Town International Animation Festival (CTIAF) takes place within Comic-Con Cape Town on the weekend of 27 and 28th April, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre 2.

As a gathering of animation professionals, students and serious enthusiasts, the Festival is a deep dive into the tools of the trade presented by creators, designers and storytellers and a meeting point for the industry to connect and explore ideas.

Some of the highlights of the packed two day programme include:

  • Nathan Stanton of Pixar fame and Bill Masuku (award winning comic book artist) will be giving a storyboarding workshop.
  • Storyboard Pro instructor Kim Bussaihn of Toon Boom will demonstrate how to use the programme
  • Free Lives, one of South Africa’s most successful indie games studios, known for titles such as GORN and Broforce, will share their journey and talk about how to get into game design. They’ll also reveal a sneak peak at their upcoming games, Stick it to the Stickman and Anger Foot.
