The EP moves from the rush of “beautiful life” and the darker pop-rock edge of “body bag” to the defiance of “unapologetic” and the sugar-coated volatility of focus track “bubblegum with razorblades.” “joyride” and “better than this” complete a record about learning who you are while everything around you—and within you—is still changing.
At the center of the release is “bubblegum with razorblades,” a deceptively sweet alt-pop anthem with teeth.
