What happens when you stop protecting yourself long enough to let someone love you? For The Woods, the answer is “Let Me Know”, their deeply personal 3-step single about trust, vulnerability and choosing to let love in. The single sees Durban-born siblings Destiny and Tyron Woods continue building a sound that reflects both their shared roots and their evolving lives in Cape Town.
The Woods are carving out a sound that brings together pop songwriting, Afro dance genres and alternative R&B textures. Their latest release arrives during South Africa’s Heritage Month, a time that celebrates the country’s many cultures, stories and creative voices — making the timing particularly meaningful for a duo whose musical journey is rooted in family, identity and connection.
For The Woods, heritage is personal. Their story began in Tyron’s home studio, when he invited his sister to sing on one of his tracks and write together. What started as a spontaneous collaboration between siblings has since grown into a distinctive musical partnership, shaped by their shared upbringing, different perspectives and the natural chemistry of creating together.
The duo first made an impression on the South African music scene with their feature on Sketchy Bongo’s “By My Side,” an Afro house track featuring Destiny on lead vocals alongside Tyron and Locnville. The song is still charting on Good Hope FM and KFM charts and led to a run of interviews for the siblings.
Now, The Woods return with “Let Me Know,” which at its core, is about trust and the vulnerability that comes with accepting someone’s love. It explores what it means to let your guard down and believe that someone will stay, even when you change, make mistakes or get things wrong. It is ultimately about choosing to trust the love being offered and allowing yourself to feel safe within it.
“Let Me Know is deeply about learning to trust, letting my guard down and choosing to love authentically.” — Destiny Woods
For Tyron, the song carries another layer of meaning. The recurring background lyric, “So let me know my father,” speaks to his relationship with father figures and role models, while also reflecting his understanding of God occupying that place in his life.
Together, these themes give “Let Me Know” an intimacy that extends beyond a traditional love song. It is about trust in its many forms: between partners, between family members and within oneself.
Released in the heart of South Africa’s Heritage Month, “Let Me Know” also offers another reflection of what contemporary South African music can sound like: locally rooted but globally minded, blending familiar Afro dance rhythms with pop and alternative R&B sensibilities.
For The Woods, it is the latest chapter in a story that started at home with two siblings finding a shared language through music and continuing to build a sound of their own.
