Life got busy. The weekends started disappearing into chores and scrolling. South African singer-songwriter Louise Carver has a different plan.
This is Woman’s Weekend – one woman, her story, her people. Deliberately named in the singular, it honours every woman’s unique journey while welcoming everyone who believes that life’s best moments are shared through music, conversation and meaningful connection.
Taking place on 7 August at The Loft (Hout Bay) and 9 August at Hermanus Golf Club (Hermanus), Woman’s Weekend is about more than two live performances. It’s an invitation to leave routine behind, reconnect with the people you love and remember what it feels like to experience music together.
Built around the belief that “Life Sounds Better Live”, Woman’s Weekend celebrates the simple joy of getting dressed up, sharing a meal, raising a glass and being fully present in a room where every song is experienced together.
“We’re living in a time when it’s easier than ever to stay home,” says Carver. “The couch is comfortable, Netflix is always there and life is busy. But the nights we remember are rarely the ones we spent scrolling. Music has an incredible way of bringing people back to themselves and to each other, and that’s exactly what Woman’s Weekend is about.”
Joining Louise on stage for both performances will be violin virtuoso Renate Riedemann, whose extraordinary musicianship and electrifying stage presence bring a completely new dimension to the show. Together they create a show that moves effortlessly between intimate moments and soaring musical energy.
Although inspired by Women’s Day, Woman’s Weekend isn’t only for women.
It’s for anyone who believes that live music, meaningful conversation and shared experiences still matter.
