In the beginning of the year Francois van Coke planned to release four singles. Currently there are six singles in the pipeline for 2026, as things go. (Not to mention the new music with Fokofpolisiekar on the way …)
Francois’ kick-off with “Nagmerries (Bye Bye Baby)” in April was on-point and he keeps up the momentum with his collaboration with VOLK on a punk rock version of The Bats rugby hit, “Groen en Goud”.
About “Groen en Goud”:
Frank Freeman from VOLK carried a raw, punk rock version of The Bats rugby classic, “Groen en Goud”, in his mind for a long time. When Francois heard about it, he felt compelled to join Frank on this song. They have two things in common: obsession for rock music and Bok rugby; making this collaboration a perfect match.
“Springbok rugby is punk in its own way, especially in this era. We wanted to reflect their raw energy and intensity with this cover,” says VOLK’s Frank Freeman.

Francois adds that this is “a special raw punk rock version of the classic The Bats tune. I can’t wait to listen to it, to play it and sing this tune when the Boks scores tries”.
Francois’ track list for the rest of 2026:
Tune 3 of 2026: Thursday, 30 July Francois will release a punk song titled “Bangkinners”. The music video will be released on Wednesday, 29 July. In this music video Francois plays an overzealous shopping-mall security guard who takes it upon himself to “fix” the world’s problems.
Tune 4 of 2026: Francois and the Prince of Pretoria, Zaan Sonnekus, are busy working together on a rock song. Release date TBC.
Tune 5 of 2026: This one is going to be extra lekker – Francois and Hunter Kennedy are releasing an “emo braai song” later this year. Release date TBC.
Tune 6 of 2026: Francois and VOLK have another alternative song ready to kick off the parties in December.

The biggest night in SA rock and alternative music returns for the 7th time to the SunBet Arena, Time Square (Pretoria) on Friday, 9 October.
Francois is going extra large this year with these all-star friends of his: Spoegwolf, Karen Zoid, Jack Parow, Robbie Wessels, Fokofpolisiekar, Early B, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Zaan Sonnekus, Neon Dreams, Van Pletzen, Tasché and Hunter Kennedy.
