South African electronic duo, VAN PLETZEN, will drop their fifth studio album on Wednesday, 29 April.
The title?
BENAAIHILISM
The title itself is an invented Mengels word, combining benaai with nihilism. When things are benaai, life is lived at full throttle: we party, indulge and celebrate. At the same time, the album wrestles with the creeping sense of nihilism about the world we live in — the question of meaning, purpose, and whether any of it really matters in the end.
Peach van Pletzen elaborates about the upcoming album: “when existential dread meets the dance floor. A maximalist electronic dance record exploring nihilism, absurdity, and the sheer joy of the dance floor.”
Expect to learn more about this album on 29 April.
“Gqeberha Shake Dat Ass” OUT NOW!
Van Pletzen’s third single from their upcoming fifth album is a high-energy ode to Gqeberha and was released on 16 April.
“Gqeberha Shake Dat Ass” is a tongue-in-cheek banger, laced with playful wordplay and undeniable dancefloor energy. Few cities know how to show up and party quite like Gqeberha (formerly known as Port Elizabeth).

This city has also produced its fair share of legends, including Early B, Loufi, and Biggy.
This marks the final single release before Van Pletzen’s highly anticipated fifth album drops on 29 April.
