Just days after claiming a Top 10 award for Sauvignon Blanc, Bonnievale Wines has again struck gold. The celebrated winery has claimed three Gold medals at the Ultra Value Wine Challenge for not only its Sauvignon Blanc, but Shiraz and Chenin Blanc too.
Its Pinotage won Silver, bringing the total medal tally to four and highlighting once again the excellent value underscored by Bonnievale quality across the range.
The Gold winning wines were Bonnievale The River Collection Sauvignon Blanc 2022; Shiraz 2021; and, Chenin Blanc 2022. Silver went to the The River Collection Pinotage 2021.
“To us, consistent recognition at events like this is affirmation of our faith in the quality of our vineyards,” says chief winemaker Marthinus Rademeyer. “By harnessing fruit with the care, passion, skill, and experience that is deeply rooted in the support and insight of our producers, we encourage the blocks to show their unique terroir and provenance. It is the golden thread throughout our wines, from vineyard to winery.”
The Ultra Value Wine Challenge came into being seven years ago with the aim of highlighting champion wines that sell under R150/bottle.
The rigorous protocols ensure every wine is assessed objectively and independently. All wines that make the quality level are then put through a retail price algorithm, to achieve their final adjusted score. Many wines passed the quality test, yet failed the value test.
Bonnievale Wines made the grade on both counts. The results were reviewed independently to confirm their accuracy.
