Johannesburg singer-songwriter Charlie Harris returns with his latest single, ‘I Don’t Want It’— a defiant anthem about walking away from toxic relationships, fake friendships, and the emotional drain caused by people who take more than they give.
Best known as the songwriter and driving force behind Keep Guessing Charlie, he has built a reputation for honest storytelling, heartfelt performances, and songs that connect through shared human experiences. Following recent releases, including ‘Laika’ and the EP – ‘The Greatest EP Ever’ – featuring the single ‘Cry Me A River, he now delivers one of his most personal and relatable tracks to date.

Interestingly, ‘I Don’t Want It’ began its life more than ten years ago. The song remained unfinished until recently, when a reworked arrangement transformed it into the powerful live opener it was always meant to be. It’s moody opener sounds eerily like Nirvana’s ‘Come As You Are.
“The song has been with me for years,” says Charlie. “When I revisited it, I realised it still felt relevant. We’ve all experienced people who drain us, manipulate situations, or pretend to be something they’re not. This song is about finally reaching that point where you choose yourself and move on.”
Produced by Kevin Leicher and driven by an urgent rhythm, soaring melodies, and a chorus built for sing-alongs, ‘I Don’t Want It’ captures the moment frustration becomes freedom.
“I Don’t Want It” is available on all major streaming platforms.
