For over 23 years Francois van Coke & Hunter Kennedy have written songs together that thousands of people make their best memories to. In addition to the Fokofpolisiekar catalogue, they co-wrote party starters such as “Daarsy Boys” and “Hartseer Freaks,” which were released under Francois’s solo moniker.
And now the boys are back again with another favourite for your playlist: “Aksie Braai” is not a traditional braai song – it might be the saddest one ever!
Or as Francois describes it: “burnout wrapped in a braai song”.
This single drops on Thursday, 24 September on Heritage Day aka Braai Day.
The music video is first out of the blocks on Wednesday, 23 September at 7pm on YouTube.

And where does the title “Aksie Braai” come from? Let Francois tell you the story:
“About 20 years ago we read an interview with the legendary Springbok, Os du Randt. In the interview they asked him ‘what is your favourite movie’ and his answer was ‘action’. They also asked him ‘what is your favourite food’. He answered ‘braai’. We thought it was very funny – ‘action braai’. We joked about it for a while and Hunter even had it as his Facebook bio for a while – ‘action braai’.”
