Hyde Park Corner marks Mother’s Day on Sunday, 10 May 2026 with two distinct restaurant experiences – a family-style Japanese feast at KōL Izakhaya and a four-course brunch at The Forum Hyde Park – alongside a curated gift edit in Centre Court.
There is a quiet understanding, shared by those who love a mother well, that the best gifts are not things. They are precious memories. Time at a table. A shared meal. A reason to pause.
This Mother’s Day, Hyde Park Corner offers just that, with two distinct dining experiences and a curated gift edit that together make a compelling case for celebrating in style.
Coals, company and something to celebrate
Taking centre stage is KōL Izakhaya, Hyde Park Corner’s Japanese robata grill restaurant, which marks the occasion with a family-style menu designed to bring people together in the most literal sense. Rather than individual plates, the table shares. It is the kind of meal that invites conversation, reaches across place settings and lingers long after the last dish is cleared.
The Mother’s Day menu at KōL Izakhaya is built around the restaurant’s signature cooking method: Binchō-tan, a white-hot, near-smokeless charcoal produced through kiln-firing high-quality wood. Revered in Japanese cuisine for the rare, clean flavours it imparts, Binchō-tan powers KōL’s Robata Grill and gives every dish its characteristic depth. The family platter for four (R1,600) features Omakase Sushi, Wagyu Skewers, Miso Glazed Salmon, Beef Short Rib, Edamame Beans, Beef Gyoza and Steamed Japanese Rice, finishing with Matcha and Black Sesame Ice Cream. For larger groups, the platter for six (R2,685) extends the spread to include Black Cod Bites, Beef Rib thinly sliced for the table and Yuzu Ice Cream. Every mother is welcomed with a complimentary drink and Tea Ceremony.

Brunch in Bloom
Also celebrating the occasion is The Forum Hyde Park, which opens its doors for its first-ever Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, 10 May 2026, from 11h00 to 14h00. Priced at R890 per person, the four-course plated menu draws inspiration from a secret garden, with dishes including strawberry and buffalo mozzarella salad, orange and honey glazed seared salmon and raspberry and rose pavlova. Each guest receives a welcome glass of The Forum Cap Classique and a specially selected gift.
Bookings for The Forum Hyde Park: Via Dineplan, with a direct deposit required to secure a reservation.
Gift Inspo
Beyond the table, Hyde Park Corner’s Centre Court offers a thoughtfully assembled Mother’s Day gift edit spanning fashion, beauty, homeware and health and wellness, for those who prefer to shop with intention rather than browse without direction.
Whether the plan is a long, unhurried lunch with the family, a quiet brunch for two or a beautifully wrapped gift, Hyde Park Corner has the occasion well in hand.
