Four of South Africa’s funniest people are coming to Delta Park’s Whirlwind Theatre. Your abs have been warned.

Forget yoga. Forget crunches. On Saturday, 15 August, Delta Park’s Whirlwind Theatre is prescribing a far more enjoyable workout as Comedy in the Park brings four of South Africa’s top comedians together for one unforgettable evening of stand-up.

If laughter really is the best medicine, this line-up should probably come with a warning label.

Hosted at The Whirlwind Theatre in the beautiful Delta Environmental Centre, Comedy in the Park offers audiences the chance to experience some of South Africa’s finest comedy talent in one of Johannesburg’s most intimate live performance venues. Guests are invited to arrive early, enjoy the café and bar from 5pm, settle into the relaxed park surroundings and prepare for an evening where the only thing taken seriously is the comedy.

Leading the line-up is Dave Levinsohn – the comedy veteran who never performs the same show twice.

One of South Africa’s original comedy trailblazers, Dave has spent decades perfecting the art of making audiences laugh at things they never expected to find funny. A performer, writer, director and master of improvisation, he is renowned for his delightfully left-field humour and uncanny ability to turn everyday moments into comedy gold. No two performances are ever quite the same and that’s exactly how he likes it!

Joining him is Joey Rasdien, who steals the show before he’s even finished saying hello.

One of South Africa’s most recognisable comedy talents, Joey has built an extraordinary career across stand-up, film, television and live entertainment. With infectious energy, razor-sharp observations and effortless audience connection, he has become one of the country’s most loved performers, leaving audiences laughing long after the curtain falls.

Also taking to the stage is Hannes Brümmer who is a master of making theatre, television and stand-up collide.

The SAFTA-winning actor, writer and comedian is celebrated for his expressive physical comedy, bilingual wit and impeccable comic timing. Whether performing on screen, on stage or behind a microphone, Hannes has an effortless ability to surprise audiences with humour that’s as intelligent as it is hilarious.

Completing the stellar line-up is Mbali Gudazi, a rising star who proves that the future of South African comedy is in very good hands. A two-time Comics Choice Awards nominee and winner of the 2025 Jive Funny Competition, Mbali has rapidly become one of the country’s most exciting new voices in comedy. Her warm, relatable storytelling and infectious stage presence transform everyday experiences into unforgettable moments of laughter, making her one of the most sought-after performers on the comedy circuit today.

“The Whirlwind Theatre has always been about bringing exceptional South African talent closer to audiences,” says Tabitha Hoy, Co-Founder of The Whirlwind Theatre. “Comedy has a wonderful way of bringing people together. For a couple of hours, strangers become a room full of people laughing at the same stories, and that’s something quite special. This line-up represents some of the very best comedy talent in the country, and we’re delighted to welcome them to Delta Park for what promises to be an unforgettable evening.”

Whether you’re planning a date night, catching up with friends or simply looking for an excuse to laugh a little louder than usual, Comedy in the Park promises an evening of brilliant storytelling, quick wit and the kind of laughter that stays with you long after you’ve gone home.
