South African singer-songwriter Katia De Vallier releases her new single “Nothing Should
Stop You” on 12 June 2026, a soaring, personal anthem born from a pivotal turning point in
her life – one that ultimately transformed her relationship with both music and her own
ambition.
For years, Katia balanced a demanding corporate career alongside music, which had long
existed on the sidelines. Following vocal surgery and a period of recovery, she made a long-
awaited commitment: to begin writing and releasing original music. But that resolve was
soon tested when the company she worked for closed its doors, leaving her navigating
retrenchment while grappling with the idea of launching her own consultancy and leaning
fully into her artistic life.
It was during this uncertain period that the song found her. While driving a familiar route,
Katia stopped at a traffic light and noticed a billboard bearing four words: “Nothing Should
Stop You.” The moment was immediate and profound.
“Those four words felt like they jumped straight into my heart. For the first time, I truly
believed I could pursue both my music and my own business, on my own terms.” says De
Vallier.
The feeling was so overwhelming, and so deeply right, that Katia set about capturing it in
music, creating a song she hopes will resonate with anyone who has ever faced fear, self-
doubt or a crossroads that demanded a leap of faith.
Katia decided she needed to bring this anthem to another level and asked Producer and
musician Daniel Baron to collaborate with her. The two started working together in October
2024 and so it was a no brainer for him to come on board. De Vallier wrote the lyrics and
melody of the song, and Baron composed the music and produced it. To complete the
overall sound, Tjaart van der Walt (Maple Mastering) headed the mastering of the single.
“He (Daniel) has really revolutionised my own perception of myself as an artist and helped
me truly believe in myself and the music that I want to bring out into the world.” adds De
Vallier.
Katia speaks directly to what she hopes the song will give listeners:
“‘Nothing Should Stop You’ is more than just a song. It is a reminder that fear, uncertainty,
setbacks and self-doubt do not have to define our future. It is about having the courage to
pursue the life that calls to you – even when the path ahead feels terrifying and uncertain. My
hope is that anyone who hears the song finds a piece of their own story in it, and is
reminded that ordinary people are capable of extraordinary things. May this song inspire you
to be delusionally passionate about your dreams, until they become your very reality.”
