“I hope this EP makes people feel something—joy, rage, lust, sadness, nostalgia. I hope it makes people laugh. Maybe even cry. Mostly, I hope it reminds people that they’re not alone. None of us have it figured out. And honestly, that’s what makes it fun.” – Craig Lucas
South African singer-songwriter Craig Lucas is back with a powerful, no-holds-barred new EP, Tip of My Tongue. Honest, chaotic, funny, heartbreaking, and deeply human, this six-track collection sees Lucas breaking free of expectation—and finally saying everything he’s been too afraid to say out loud.
“This EP is everything I’ve been biting back for years,” says Craig. “It’s messy. It’s raw. It’s me without a filter—and without the pressure to be anyone but myself.”
Best known as the winner of The Voice South Africa in 2017, Craig’s musical journey has taken him from mainstream pop beginnings to an introspective and fearless new era. Tip of My Tongue is not a sophomore album, but rather a candid and cathartic amuse-bouche: a creative release written without the burden of overthinking, chart performance, or people-pleasing. It’s a love letter to imperfection—and an open invitation to feel everything.
Across six wildly different yet emotionally cohesive tracks, Craig explores everything from unrequited love and internet identity to addiction, grief, family, sexuality, and the glorious mess of being human.
Tracklist:
- Falling in Love
- Love You for the Last Time
- High, Drunk & Horny
- FUCK BOY (feat. Cubbi)
- Cool on the Internet
- Yours
Highlights from Tip of My Tongue:
- “Falling in Love” is a sharp, sarcastic anthem for hopeless romantics who fall too fast—especially for boys who want nothing more than late-night texts and blurred boundaries. With indie-pop flair and lyrical wit, it’s “therapy to dance to.”
- “Love You for the Last Time” is a soaring 80s-inspired slow dance drenched in heartbreak and longing—a cinematic cry into the void for one last night with someone you never really had. Co-written and produced by Jono Greyling, it’s destined to be a crying-on-the-dancefloor favourite.
- “High, Drunk & Horny” is exactly what it says on the tin. Unapologetically cheeky and self-aware, it turns Craig’s past struggles with addiction into a playful pop moment that heals through humour.
- “FUCK BOY” (feat. Cubbi) is Craig’s punk-pop fantasy fully unleashed—gritty, bratty, and bursting with 2000s teen movie energy. A self-aware anthem for anyone who keeps falling for all the wrong people (again and again).
- “Cool on the Internet” tackles the pressure of online perfection with sharp satire and swagger. It’s the song that sparked the EP’s concept and showcases Craig’s range, blending rap-like vocal delivery with dark, edgy production and theatrical flair.
- “Yours”, the emotional centrepiece of the EP, is Craig’s most personal song to date—a tribute to his late brother and father. Raw and intimate, the song marks a turning point in Craig’s journey of healing. Released earlier this year on March 6, it coincided with the launch of The Warren & Arlene Lucas Foundation, a family initiative supporting youth development in their honour.
A New Era for Craig Lucas
Tip of My Tongue is the beginning of something new. It’s experimental, explosive, and honest—an EP that holds nothing back. Written and recorded with a fresh slate of collaborators, including Dolf Willemse, Blake Sayer (Cubbi), and Jono Greyling, the project allowed Craig to throw out the rulebook and rediscover joy in making music.
“For the first time, I’m okay with not knowing exactly who I am. That uncertainty used to scare me—but now, I see it as freedom,” Craig shares. “This EP is a celebration of that. There’s beauty in the mess.”
