South African singer-songwriter Werner Bekker today releases his long-awaited debut album, Lightwoven – a deeply introspective body of work that explores the emotional weight of love, loss, and self-discovery. The album is available now across all major digital streaming platforms.
Known for his raw sincerity and heartfelt lyrics, Lightwoven marks Bekker’s most personal release to date. The nine-track album weaves vulnerability and hope into an acoustic tapestry of healing and human connection.
“This album helped me process what I couldn’t say out loud,” says Bekker. “I hope it does the same for someone else.”
The album includes four previously released singles – Coloured by Thoughts, Mood, I Can Take It, and Goodbye Honey – and introduces listeners to the emotional centrepiece, Compromise. With stripped-back instrumentation and lyrical honesty, Compromise is a quietly powerful meditation on letting go with grace. It captures the push-and-pull of relationships, and the difficult beauty of surrendering when love meets its edge.
“Some songs take you back. Some take you forward. Others let you be exactly where you are,” says Bekker. “Lightwoven lets time bend. It holds space for what was real and imagines what’s still to come.”
The album’s title reflects its emotional tone – the idea that even in our darkest moments, there is always light to be found, woven through our lived experiences.
Produced by Werner Bekker and long-time collaborator Dean Salant, Lightwoven offers a textured, acoustic sound that balances introspection with quiet strength. The project was brought to life for international audiences in May during a 16-date European tour across Germany, The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, and Iceland.
Lightwoven is not just a collection of songs – it’s an invitation to feel, reflect, and ultimately, to heal.
