Fans of Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory will want to check out Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. This spin-off picks up one month after the finale of Young Sheldon, with Georgie and Mandy raising their young family while dealing with the challenges of living with Mandy’s parents.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has an 89% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Collider hails Morgan for “seamlessly” stepping out of Sheldon and Missy’s shadow “into the role of leading man,” praising the sitcom as “a worthy successor in the universe of The Big Bang Theory.”

Carrie Underwood won Season 4 of the popular singing competition American Idol. Now, eight Grammys later, she returns as a judge on its 23rd season, replacing Katy Perry.

Underwood joins four-time Grammy winner Lionel Richie and country superstar Luke Bryan on the jury. This season’s guest mentors include three-time Grammy winner Miranda Lambert.

Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, American Idol has won more than 50 awards, including nine Emmys.

Co-created by South Africans Lucy Heavens and Nic Smal, Kiff follows an optimistic squirrel whose thirst for life takes her on countless adventures through her town, alongside Barry, her chill bunny bestie. Set in a world where animals and magical oddballs tackle day-to-day life together, the duo navigate school, relationships, and their often-eccentric community.

At the 2025 Children and Family Emmy Awards, Kiff was nominated for Outstanding Children’s or Young Teen Animated Series as well as Outstanding Song.

Decider hails Kiff as “probably the most adventurous kids’ animation project Disney has aired since Phineas and Ferb…  lots of surreal fun, with a warm friendship at its center.”

HELDERBERG

Just after midnight on 28 November 1987, Mauritian air traffic control lost contact with South African Airways Flight SA 295, shortly after it had started its approach to the island’s Plaisance Airport, en route from Taipei to Johannesburg. After being unable to reach the plane again, an emergency was declared – but South Africa’s worst-ever commercial aviation disaster had already taken place.

Almost four decades later, mystery still surrounds the exact cause of the fire thatsaw the Boeing 747, named Helderberg, crash into the Indian Ocean and claim the lives of all 159 passengers and crew aboard. Was it simply an accident – or an act of treachery?

Helderberg is produced by Relish Media and local true-crime pioneers IdeaCandy, the production company behind award winners like Steinheist and Devilsdorp and record-breakers like Tracking Thabo Bester and Rosemary’s Hitlist.

In Season 2 of 1923, a cruel winter brings new challenges to Dutton Ranch. Donald Whitfield still has his eyes on the ranch, with designs on turning Montana into a playground for the elite. Jacob and Cara must buckle down and wait for Spencer to arrive and help them repel the latest attack. Meanwhile, Spencer’s new bride, Alexandra, sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find him and reclaim their love. 
 
The Yellowstone prequel stars Timothy Dalton (aka James Bond) as Donald, with Oscar nominee Harrison Ford and Oscar winner Helen Mirren as Jacob and Cara, and Brandon Sklenar and Julia Schlaepfer as Spencer and Alexandra.

Mirren won a Critics Choice Super Award for Best Actress: Action and was nominated at last year’s Golden Globes, where 1923 was up for Best TV Series: Drama.

Season 2 has a 100% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes. As IndieWire put it, “If only all recent movies were this thrillingly cinematic.”

In its first seven days, the S2 finale attracted over 14m viewers on Paramount+ – a series record.

Season 1, which was partly shot in Cape Town, is available to binge on Showmax.

Season 2 of the Uthando Nes’thembu spinoff was Mzansi Magic’s most-watched reality series in June 2024, according to The Broadcast Research Council of South Africa.

News24 says “the nation was left on edge” after last season’s finale “wrapped with heated verbal and near-physical confrontations.”

This is set to be the final season (though the show has been cancelled twice before – and pulled through both times).
 
Co-created by Emmy nominee Shawn Ryan (The Shield), SWAT has been nominated for Critics Choice Super Awards for Best Action Series and Best Actor in an Action Series (for Emmy winner Shemar Moore, as Hondo), as well as four Emmys for its stunt coordination. 
 
Annie Ngosi Ilonzeh (Emily Foster on Chicago Fire) joins the cast this season as Officer Devin Gamble, a controversial new SWAT recruit. Also look out for South African actor Stelio Savante as Omar Morina in Episode 12.
