Monique Hellenberg’s Heartfelt Tribute Single “No Regrets” Honours Late Twin Sister, Lisa Hellenberg

Acclaimed vocalist Monique Hellenberg unveils her most personal project yet with the release of her new single, “No Regrets,” a moving tribute to her late twin sister, Lisa Hellenberg. Originally composed by Lisa as a farewell gift to a friend who was moving to the UK, this emotional track, first written when the sisters were young girls about to embark on their high school journey, has now been revived after 24 years with the help of renowned producer Ebrahim Mallum.

“No Regrets” takes on new life with an added verse and bridge, addressed directly to Lisa. Monique’s soulful vocals blend with an updated groove, creating a poignant yet uplifting anthem that reflects both sorrow and celebration of the bond the sisters shared.

Monique recalls the significance of the song: “Lisa wrote this song at such a young age, and even then, her songwriting had this depth and beauty that resonated with everyone around her. Reviving this song after so many years has been one of the most emotional experiences of my life, but it’s also a way to keep Lisa’s spirit alive through music.”

Lisa Hellenberg: A Musical Legacy

Lisa Hellenberg, born in 1983, was an extraordinary musician from an early age. Her musical journey began with the recorder and piano at six, and by 1994, she was mastering the silver flute. In 1995, Lisa gave her first solo performance, singing “My Guy” at her primary school talent competition. Her impeccable technique and introspective nature led her to write her own songs before she was even twelve.

In high school, Lisa’s talent blossomed further. She won first place in a songwriting competition for her Arbor Day song and became a beloved soloist in Rustenburg Girls’ High School’s cabaret, delivering a breathtaking rendition of “How Deep Is Your Love.” As the pianist for school assemblies and a selected lead in SACS High School’s Guys and Dolls musical production, Lisa’s talent was undeniable. Sadly, she passed away on Good Friday, April 21, 2000, just before the show’s staging, leaving behind an enduring musical legacy.

Monique Hellenberg: A Voice of Versatility

Monique Hellenberg, Lisa’s twin sister, has built a remarkable career of her own as a versatile and award-winning Capetonian vocalist. She gained national recognition as the featured vocalist on Goldfish’s chart-topping hit, “This Is How It Goes,” which became an international sensation. Monique’s latest R&B single, “Spend A Little Time,” soared into the Heart 104.9FM Top 40 at the start of 2024.

Beyond recording, Monique frequently graces the stage at events, performing alongside jazz and pop ensembles, and regularly collaborates with orchestras conducted by Richard Cock. As a dedicated mentor, she has helped shape the careers of artists such as Zoe Modiga, Manana, Langa Mavuso, and Richard Stirton, winner of The Voice SA 2026.

With “No Regrets,” Monique pays a deeply personal homage to Lisa, blending their shared love for music and honoring her sister’s memory through song.
