Rising pop duo Pop Royale, consisting of Oshri and Perry Bancs, is back with their brand-new single, ‘More.’ Their second release since forming as Pop Royale, ‘More’ explores the intricate dynamics of relationships, particularly the hesitation and fear that often arise when contemplating deeper connections. Written by Craig Lucas, Caleb Williams, and Oshri, ‘More’ delves into the uncertainty of whether to push forward or hold back, capturing the emotional tug-of-war in every line.
The song opens with the evocative line, “Painted flowers on the day that we met. I was young and I will always regret,” immediately setting the stage for a heartfelt exploration of regret and longing. The chorus further intensifies the theme, reflecting the push-and-pull feeling of wanting to take the next step but being held back by fear.
Speaking about the song’s creation, Oshri shares, “We wrote it as part of a writing camp in Cape Town. I have worked with everyone before except Craig Lucas, and I remember we had the majority of the song written with the idea and concept of a personal story in mind, but we were missing a piece. We tried and tried, and then Craig came up with the closing line ‘More than I am ready for,’ and we were all like ‘hell yeah!’”
Pop Royale’s formation is the result of an unexpected yet serendipitous meeting at a Los Angeles singer-songwriter convention. What began as a casual collaboration quickly evolved into a serious project, driven by their shared passion for music and undeniable chemistry. Their unique blend of styles and infectious energy creates a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly new, poised to make a lasting impact on the music scene.
Oshri’s musical journey began with his victory in the first South African TRACE Music Stars competition, where he was mentored by Wyclef Jean. After moving to New York, he collaborated with Wyclef and performed at the 2015 Trace Urban Music Awards in Paris. Later, Oshri joined Akon’s label, eventually going independent and debuting on the Billboard Top 40 Dance chart.
Perry, who grew up in downtown Manhattan, picked up the guitar at age 12 and was featured in the New York Times at 15 for winning a guitar contest. After attending Berklee College of Music, he moved to Los Angeles. In 2016, The Chainsmokers remixed one of his songs, leading to his fateful meeting with Oshri. Pop Royale officially formed in April 2024.
‘More’ is available now on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss out on this evocative and powerful new track from one of pop’s most promising new acts.
