Pop artist, Reino Brink, is excited to announce the release of his highly-anticipated debut album ‘Break and Bend’. The album features the lead track ‘Nightlife’ that will have listeners dancing along in no time. Accompanied by a visually stunning music video, ‘Nightlife’ is sure to take the music industry by storm and solidify Reino’s place as a rising star in the pop music world.
The music video for ‘Nightlife’ is unlike anything you’ve seen before. Styled by Tamsyn Jade Postma from Dear Prudence Vintage and inspired by the cultural movements of the 60’s and 70’s, the video was filmed and directed by Howie Combrink in an industrial warehouse and features Reino and his band for the first time, signaling his readiness to tour the local circuit.
A funky bop with far more somber tones, ‘Nightlife’ opens our eyes to the reality of ‘living for the nightlife’. The song is a raw and honest depiction of a difficult time in Reino’s life, where he felt lost and alone. The lyrics explore the theme of living for the nightlife as a way to escape the troubles of the day. Watch the music video for ‘Nightlife’
Reino’s flaring authenticity shines through the lyrics, and adds, “On the outside it sounds cool and funky, but the inside is very dark. ‘Nightlife’ is mostly written about me, and a phase I went through in my first year of Uni. It involved a lot of emotional anger, and a lot of confusion as to what my purpose was in life. That’s why I’m doing music and stopped studying.”
‘Break and Bend’, is a profound commentary on the twists and turns of life. This 8-track record is an unafraid statement on joy, growing up, heartbreak and unity. Brink also opens up about his struggles with anxiety, saying, “Not everything is smiles and rainbows, but I’m not scared to tackle subjects like mental health. No-one should be scared to talk about it.”
With epic guitar riffs and catchy tunes, the album is a must-listen for anyone looking for music that speaks to their heart and soul. Get ready to unleash the nostalgia as Reino Brink takes you on a journey through the golden era of music with ‘Break and Bend.’
Drawing inspiration from legends like Billy Joel, Don Henley, Toto, and Dire Straits, this album is a perfect blend of 80s pop and indie rock with a touch of alternative. Get ready to rock and roll as Pretoria-born and raised, Reino, brings his love for rhythm and drums – stemming from a childhood spent banging Phil Collins’ ‘In The Air Tonight’ – to the forefront of this highly-anticipated release.
Reino wrote this album alongside friend, artist and producer, Howie Combrink. “A lot of laughter and long hours but only good memories,” Reino smiles.
20-year-old Reino might be fresh on the block, but he certainly isn’t new to the music scene as he made his mark back in 2021 with his self-produced released singles.
This album follows the success of his hit singles ‘Dance Till The Sunrise’ and ‘Small Talk’ released back in 2022. Speaking about the content on the album, Reino comments, “It’s basically the process of getting your hopes up, being broken down and then building yourself up. It’s about finding what gives you peace and happiness, no matter what other people think of it.”
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see Reino Brink and his band in action, as they bring the energy and emotion of ‘Nightlife’ to life in this unforgettable music video.
