The very talented Simoné Roets and her husband, Estiaan, welcomed their first born, Somer Anneh Roets, on 24 October 2022.
Somer was born at Kloof Hospital in Pretoria and both parents are beyond excited and happy. “We are so grateful for God’s grace and goodness. Somer is perfect and both Estiaan and I are smittened and totally in love,” says a very excited Simoné.
Simoné also wrote Somer a very special message. “May you be like the season Somer to everyone. Be the warmth, the sunshine, the comfort, the love and joy to those who need it around you.”
Simoné shot to fame in 2021 with the release of her first Afrikaans single and music video, Dans in die Donker, which immediately caught the attention of Afrikaans listeners, the media and several big radio stations. This was followed by Ongerep (with Joshua na die Reën) and Om Elke Hoek en Draai, which was received very well by all media and can still be heard on various stations nationwide.
Simoné grew up in Nelspruit and only discovered her passion for music after school. Since then, she has released an EP, as well as several other English songs and was very involved at the Hillsong City Campus in Brisbane, where she used to live.
She is excited to be back on home soil and to release her debut Afrikaans album early 2023.
Simoné will also be seen on stage this year at the Aitsa Afrikaanse Musiektoekennings as guest artist with other artists like Riaan Benade, Droomsindroom, Elandré, Demi Lee Moore, Taryn Lamb and Rocco de Villiers.
