Checkers launches first standalone Krispy Kreme kiosks

Checkers is the first South African supermarket to launch standalone Krispy Kreme kiosks in its stores.

This follows the runaway success following the introduction of Krispy Kreme doughnuts in selected Checkers stores last year. To give customers more of what they want, Checkers is partnering with Krispy Kreme to launch a more permanent offering.

The first kiosk to open 21 March at Checkers Drakenstein Sentrum, with the second to launch in Checkers Kenilworth Shopping Centre on 4 April, 2022. The kiosks will stock a variety of Made Fresh Daily doughnuts, delivered daily by Krispy Kreme, also offering a quality coffee experience, decadent chillers and merchandise. “The dedicated Krispy Kreme kiosks in selected Checkers stores is another South African supermarket first,” said Willem Hunlun, Chief Operating Officer for Checkers. “Krispy Kreme is an iconic global brand and the perfect fit for our world-class supermarkets.” Gerry Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts South Africa, said that the two brands complement each other well and that their partnership with Checkers forms part of its overall growth strategy.

“Krispy Kreme South Africa are delighted to be sharing joyful experiences and creating magic moments with Checkers. The Checkers relationship aligns with our growth strategy and enhances consumer accessibility of our iconic doughnuts and beverages,” said Thomas. To celebrate the launch, Krispy Kreme are rewarding the first 50 guests who transact with their Krispy Kreme APP-INESS APP in-store with doughnuts and coffee for a year. The prize includes one box of a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts and one coffee every month for a year. Vouchers will be sent from 1 month of the first transaction.
