Old Mutual Music at the Lake will close its 2026 season at the Durban Botanic Gardens on Thursday, 24 September 2026, with a Heritage Day celebration headlined by Sjava, performing live with a full six-piece band, alongside Simmy and Q Twins.
The concert brings together three standout acts whose music is deeply connected to KwaZulu-Natal. Their stories, sounds and journeys reflect the richness of the province, and the role KZN-born talent continues to play in shaping South Africa’s contemporary music scene.
From Sjava’s poetic storytelling, rooted in isiZulu tradition and carried by contemporary sounds, to Simmy’s Afro-house melodies shaped by her Tugela Ferry roots, and the distinctive harmonies of the Q Twins from KwaMashu, the line-up speaks to the many ways KwaZulu-Natal’s culture continues to move and inspire South African music.
Heritage Day is a fitting moment to celebrate the languages, traditions, stories and shared identity that connect South Africans across generations and communities. Through music, the concert will give audiences a space to honour where they come from, while enjoying the evolving sounds of the province and the country.
