The beloved Old Mutual Music in the Gardens series is back, bringing top-tier musical performances to Johannesburg. The 2024 series kicks off on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the picturesque Mushroom Farm Park in Sandton. The opening concert features the internationally acclaimed PJ Morton (USA), the soulful Mandisi Dyantyis, and the rising star Wandile Mbambeni.

PJ Morton, a multiple Grammy Award-winning musician, singer, songwriter, and producer, will headline the event with his phenomenal band, Afro Orleans. Known for his work as a solo artist and as a member of Maroon 5, Morton returns to South Africa with his latest album, “Cape Town to Cairo,” inspired by his previous African tour. His accolades include Grammy Awards for Best Traditional R&B Performance (2019), Best R&B Song (2020), Best Gospel Album (2021), and contributions to the Album of the Year (2022) for Jon Batiste’s “We Are.”
Mandisi Dyantyis, an award-winning trumpeter and Afro-Soul-Jazz vocalist, is a beloved figure in the South African music scene. His debut album, “Somandla,” and its follow-up, “Cwaka,” have received INTERNATIONAL critical acclaim for their profound emotional depth. Dyantyis is also a prolific composer for film, stage, and television, known for his charismatic and captivating live performances.
Wandile Mbambeni, a rising star from Johannesburg, is known for his unique blend of Soul and African folk-country. His powerful voice and storytelling prowess have earned him recognition on both local and international stages. Mbambeni has performed at major events like Rocking The Daisies and Lake of Stars in Malawi, and he recently opened for PJ Morton on his 2023 South African tour.
