Written during a period when Rob felt his music lacked its usual spark, “Electricity” became a transformative piece for the artist. “A lot of artists say their best songs are written in the shortest amount of time,” Rob shares. “That’s how ‘Electricity’ happened—it wasn’t planned or predetermined; it just happened. A sudden jolt of musical passion and expression.”
The song explores the electrifying connection between two people meeting for the first time, using the metaphor of electricity to convey the powerful emotions involved. “I’ve always enjoyed the idea of comparing electricity and love,” Rob explains. “Electricity, like love, is dangerous, yet we need it. This song describes the feeling of meeting someone you know you’re going to love for the first time. It’s about connection, emotion, passion…ELECTRICITY.”
Collaborating with DJ Cosher has been a significant part of Rob’s creative journey. “It’s such a privilege and joy to work with someone as experienced as DJ Cosher and his team at Cosher Studios. He always manages to bring fresh ideas to the table, opening doors I didn’t even know were there,” Rob remarks. “DJ Cosher has helped me become a better songwriter than I ever could have imagined.”
The recording process of “Electricity” was marked by a unique synergy between Rob, DJ Cosher, and Dave Pearce of Pascal & Pearce fame. “There was definitely some ‘electricity’ during the recording,” Rob recalls. “We all had some interesting ideas on where the song could go genre-wise, but Dave Pearce really found the direction for this song and brought it to life. It was amazing to watch ‘Electricity’ come to life as we added more instruments, new effects, and layers. I really think it makes you feel electric when you listen to it.”
For Rob, “Electricity” is not just another song; it holds a special place in his heart. “As a musician and songwriter, it’s an incredible feeling when you know you’ve written a good song,” he says. “I usually nitpick and find everything wrong with my songs, but I haven’t been able to do that with ‘Electricity.’ It’s a very special song to me, and whether it does well or not, it will always be one of my favourite compositions.”
Rob Clarke’s journey as a musician began in 2022 when he recorded a song at Cosher Studios. Since then, he has collaborated with top artists and producers, including DJ Cosher and Pascal & Pearce. His previous singles have made it to the KFM Top 40, and his collaboration with Pascal & Pearce on “All Alone” showcased his versatility as a songwriter and performer.
