Crafted by vocalist Frank Kadillac and drummer Adrian Morris between Canada and South Africa, this 12-track magnum opus chronicles a hero’s journey of epic proportions à la The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Frank Kadillac’s protagonist is ultimately emblematic of the fact that we’re all on a long journey to get back home, either literally or figuratively.
“The Good, the True, the Beautiful–these words act as my compass, my North Star that I use to navigate through this world,” Frank explains about the intention behind the album’s title.
“All religions, philosophy and the great works of art are based on one underlying principle: There is a spiritual world that generates the cause of all the effects that we experience in our reality. I feel that it’s the job of the artist and musician to channel truth from the spiritual and turn it into gold for others,” Frank says.
This is precisely what Neon Dreams have accomplished on their new album, channelling their hard-earned experiences into lyrical gold that will no doubt resonate with a global audience. As the album’s protagonist embarks on a life-altertering journey, we are introduced to him as he yearns for more in all aspects of his spiritual life (“Big Ocean”). He then accepts the call (“Jonah”) and lets go of all of his fears so that he can fully realise his purpose (“The Art Of Letting Go” feat. Matthew Mole) before embarking on his epic journey. It’s this acute attention to detail that makes this album Neon Dreams’ most thoughtful and heartfelt to-date.
Each track on the album also relates to a corresponding astrological sign as Frank explains, “The signs represent an archetype, an energy that embodies the situation of each point of the hero’s journey, think of it as the sun and the moon moving through the sky, and each star constellation it passes through shares a wonderful life lesson, a window into someone’s soul.”
Working with a variety of producers across the album namely, Dolf Willemse, Ewald Jansen Van Rensburg (Monark), Dave Rubin (American Authors), Hitimpulse, Corey LeRue and Elias Segujia, gives the album an eclectic pulse. With mixing and mastering done by Corey LeRue (Canada) and Lex Barkery (Berlin), Neon Dreams also enlisted A-list writing talent to help them craft their tracks including South Africans Matthew Mole, Jethro Tait, Majozi, as well as Scott Effman and Levi Rowan.
“Our troubles aren’t caused by the world in which we live, but the way in which we live in the world. We are all on our spiritual journey, even if we don’t realize it. You are either on the path towards your higher self or the opposite,” Frank says.
For Neon Dreams, music is so much more than just entertainment, they want to spread love, positivity and self-awareness and The Good, The True & The Beautiful is their tool to do just that.
