South African music lovers, get ready to welcome an electrifying new voice to the scene—Miss Velvet. Known for her powerhouse vocals, bold artistry, and seamless fusion of rock, soul, and high-fashion aesthetics, Miss Velvet is set to make her mark in South Africa with her latest single, Hallelujah. Adding to the excitement, this deeply moving track was co-written and produced by South African-born, Grammy-featured producer Esjay Jones, a longtime creative force behind global music icons. With Esjay’s expert touch, Hallelujah promises to resonate deeply with local audiences, bridging international artistry with homegrown talent.
Miss Velvet has always had a lifelong fascination with the beauty and culture of South Africa: “When I met my collaborator—or as I like to call our relationship, my ride-or-die—I instantly felt a palpable electricity between Esjay Jones and me. With Esjay being South African, born and bred, our connection took on an even deeper meaning. We found an incredible bond through our shared love of music and songwriting. ‘Hallelujah’ came on the heels of us being immersed in each other’s lives through songwriting for the last two years. I truly believe that when a spark is powerful, it takes time to nurture. It takes time to get to know each other, to understand how deep you want certain lyrics and messages to go. And in doing so—because Esjay was living with me and my family while we were writing these records—she experienced firsthand this next phase of my life: balancing early motherhood while continuing my career. We knew that was something we wanted to capture in ‘Hallelujah’.”
Esjay Jones shares the excitement about introducing Miss Velvet to her home country: “Bringing ‘Hallelujah’ to South Africa is an incredibly personal and full-circle moment. As a South African artist and producer, being able to introduce Miss Velvet’s powerful voice and this incredible song to my home country is beyond exciting. South Africa has such a deep appreciation for music with soul, and I know this track will resonate in a big way. This single and music video embody a raw, emotional energy that speaks to resilience, faith, and the power of music to unite people. I couldn’t be prouder to help bring this vision to life alongside Miss Velvet. She has an undeniable presence and authenticity that I know South African audiences will connect with instantly. This is just the beginning of something really special!”

On her fearlessly ambitious new & upcoming audio-visual release Triptych (releasing 21 March 2025), Miss Velvet marries classic rock passion, luxe fashion, and empowering messaging with staggering effect. A thematic three-part EP and gorgeous companion film, Triptych harnesses her astonishing old-soul vocals, timeless songcraft, and sublime tastemaker style. This singular Miss Velvet blend is captured in a 14-minute cinematic short, directed deep in the Mojave Desert by Gus Black (Greta Van Fleet, Phoebe Bridgers, Teddy Swims).
The project closes with the full-circle acceptance of the single, featuring Americana acoustic guitars stroking a more intimate and spiritual Miss Velvet vocal, finely grained and rippling like a heat haze. The Hallelujah film finds the band and choir all in white, with Miss Velvet ultimately walking alone, mirage-like towards her next chapter in a three-piece Tom Ford suit.
“Hallelujah is a profound moment of full-circle acceptance—an embrace of what is,” shares Miss Velvet. “This song, and the world it evokes, captures the essence of the wide-open West, creating a space for introspection and reflection. It embodies a safe haven, where the word hallelujah, sung together, becomes a vessel for deeper strength, unity, and the undeniable power of connection.”
The Triptych movie has been entered into various film festivals worldwide and has already WON for Best Music Video at the International New York Film Festival (INYFF).
The single was co-written and produced by South African-born, Grammy-featured producer Esjay Jones (Billy Corgan, Dave Navarro), who also serves as Miss Velvet’s guitarist and creative confidant. Recorded at Matt Sorum’s GoodNoise Studios in Palm Springs, mixed by Kevin “Thrasher” Gruft (Gwen Stefani, Machine Gun Kelly) in LA, and mastered by Grammy winner Ted Jensen (The Eagles, Rolling Stones, Santana) at Sterling Sound in NYC, Hallelujah is a powerful statement of artistic vision and purpose.
Released on her own Mother Ride Records via The Orchard/Sony, Hallelujah is the sound of Miss Velvet taking the reins—and nudging us all to do the same.
