Step into a grungy dystopian world with this brand-new original jukebox musical
The Outlore, in partnership with The Department of Sports, Arts & Culture, is bringing
Cape Town another groundbreaking immersive production, and this time they are diving
boldly into the world of musical theatre. Paper + Roses introduces a new dynamic
creative team including Bianca Rasmussen (The Kreative Foundation), Nkosinathi Mazwai
(The Addams Family Musical), Liné Jordaan (LAMTA Academy), as well as Outlore OG’s
Kimberley Buckle and Liam Tamejen Gillespie (The Cardinal).
A New Original Jukebox Musical
Paper + Roses is a brand-new original jukebox musical written by Kimberley Buckle: a
gritty, dystopian reimagining of the classic tale Beauty & The Beast, set to a soundtrack
of iconic 90s hits.
Running until 31 January 2026, this production invites audiences into a world where rebellion stirs beneath the surface and every choice has consequences.
An Experience That Redefines the Genre
The production is set to disrupt the Cape Town musical theatre landscape. Its immersive
nature pulls the audience directly into the action, transforming them from spectators
into active participants in the narrative. Even the ticket-buying process requires
audiences to choose a side, a choice that shapes the lens through which they experience
the story.
The Outlore Base will once again undergo a complete transformation, this time into a
grungy, dystopian environment filled with immersive storytelling, interactive elements,
and unique vantage points throughout the space.
As leaders in Cape Town’s immersive theatre scene, The Outlore is excited to bring their
boundary-breaking approach to a new theatrical genre.
