The talented South African artist, Andriëtte, has recently unveiled her music video for the single “Ek Moes Dit Gesê Het” (translated as “I Should Have Said It”).
“Ek Moes Dit Gesê Het” illuminates that moment in life when you long to express your feelings, but find yourself unable to do so. The song deeply resonates with anyone who has experienced or is experiencing the complexities of love. The poignant refrain with lyrics like “Ek onthou jou asem, sagtens teen die ruite van my siel” (translated as “I remember your breath softly against the windows of my soul”) and “Ek weier dat verlange, herinneringe van jou hart verniel” (translated as “I refuse that longing, memories of your heart destroy”) evoke a powerful sense of loss that touches many. It portrays the feeling of not having the opportunity to fully express oneself.
The music video for “Ek Moes Dit Gesê Het” centers around the concept of a living room sofa, where a married couple navigates through various phases in their relationship. Quintin from Quintessential Photo & Video Worx explained, “As one thinks about a couple who have been together for a long time, how many different types of conversations have they had on a living room sofa?” The video tells a captivating story with Andriëtte’s performance and Dané de Waal and Leon Kotze bringing the storyline to life. The story begins with Dané being awakened with coffee in bed by Leon, and then progresses through various phases on the living room sofa. From happy times where they play guitar for each other to more challenging times where doubt creeps into their marriage. The video culminates with the couple finding happiness in each other’s arms on the sofa.
Andriëtte, a 36-year-old Capetonian, was born and raised in Brackenfell and currently resides in Durbanville with her husband and three sons. After school, she initially pursued a career in the beauty industry before the allure of music captivated her. She continues to receive music training from Amanda Luyt.
“Ek Moes Dit Gesê Het” is a song that will undoubtedly strike a chord with listeners, encouraging them not to remain silent but to share their feelings without waiting for the right moment. The music video is now available, allowing fans to experience Andriëtte’s powerful and emotive performance.
