South African musician Jordan Dysel is releasing his dance-inspired new single, “Curious,” which will become available at all digital music retailers and streaming services on 20 January. The energetic track was written by Dysel and produced by Hendrik Joerges.
“Curious” marks Jordan’s first release of the year. The single – which follows Jordan’s 2021 single “Atypical” – was mixed by Grammy and Emmy-nominated, US-based mixing engineer, Fermin Suero Jr (engineered artists such as Anitta, Dua Lipa, Jess Glynne). Fermin’s work has reached the Billboard Top 100 and has been played on the most popular radio stations across the globe. Jordan’s musical curiosity is one of the driving forces behind his inspiration and creativity. “I loved experimenting with my voice and different melodies on this song. Dance and pop music have always been my preference, so it felt natural to make something that is upbeat and danceable,” says Jordan.
“Curious” showcases a different side to Dysel with his openness and ‘on the sleeve’ emotions. “The song speaks about putting yourself out of your comfort zone and suggests the frustration one might feel when they have a crush on someone but are unsure whether or not the feelings are mutual. They make you feel a way you haven’t felt before. It’s new and you can’t help but want more of that feeling,” explains Jordan. With its euphoric synth melodies and strong bass line, “Curious” sets the tone for Dysel’s forthcoming EP scheduled for release sometime in 2023.
There was much excitement when the SAMPRA Development Fund NPC, a subsidiary of SAMPRA, graciously offered their sponsorship in the form of funding towards the production of the track. Jordan feels grateful and humbled by the fact that there are organizations that look after their members and support the development of artists.
