Award-winning actor, director and theatre-maker Bheki Mkhwane will be presenting a full-day Acting Master Class on Saturday 7 March 2026 at POPArt, Johannesburg. Renowned for his boundless energy, physical storytelling and signature ability to connect with audiences, Mkhwane has been a leading figure in South African theatre for more than three decades.
His groundbreaking theatre work includes: award winning Solomons Pride, Born through the Nose, Belly of the Beast. Mkhwane’s televison work includes Isibaya and The River and more recently Levels.
His work has delighted audiences across Europe, the USA, Australia and Africa, it combines humour, pathos, and social commentary, earning critical acclaim and cementing his status as an icon of physical theatre.
Says Mkhwane, “Masterclasses are about sharing discoveries and proccess’s, and learning how to engage with your emotions”.
In this master class, Mkhwane will share the tools of performance and insights that have shaped his craft – from improvisation and physical theatre, to character creation, storytelling, and the deep emotional work required for truthful performance.
