South African singer-songwriter Phil Higgins releases her brand-new single, “Yours Truly, Julie,” on Valentine’s DayFriday, February 14. The single is taken from her highly anticipated forthcoming EP, “Blue + Green,” due for release later this year.

“Yours Truly, Julie” is a deeply personal and reflective track, serving as a love letter to those who are still figuring out their path in life. Higgins explains:

“It seemed quite fitting to release this song as a Valentine’s gift. It’s for the dreamers who aren’t willing to settle, who chase what they feel is calling to them. I wrote this song for Julie after finding her letter saying that she was moving away and chasing a dream. The song is about how sometimes you have to let people go so they can become who they need to be.”

Higgins wrote the song during a transformative period in her life after moving to Rotterdam to pursue a Bachelor of Music degree. In many ways, she sees herself reflected in Julie’s story:

“I end the song with the lyrics, ‘Can’t stop running, I won’t stop now with my head in the clouds and my feet on the ground. Oh truly, signed it yours truly, Julie.’ That sums up the core message of the song for me.”

Blending indie-pop with a rich, nostalgic depth, Phil Higgins crafts music that is adventurous, honest, and genre-defying. With soulful vocals, lyrical mantras, and anthemic messages of self-worth, her artistry reflects both sunshine and storms. Driven by a hopeful spirit and an unwavering passion for connection, Higgins’ music serves as an invitation for listeners to embrace their own journey with open hearts.

“Yours Truly, Julie” is available now on all major streaming platforms, so add it to your Valentine’s playlist.
