Chinese New Year Festival: Saturday 1st February 2025

The Chinese Association, Gauteng was founded in 1903 and is the oldest Chinese association in South Africa. Most of our members are multi-generational South African Chinese. We look after the interests of the Chinese community whilst at the same time partnering and working together with the broader South African communities in developing a mutual understanding of each other.


On Saturday 1st February 2025, The Chinese Association (TCA) will be hosting the annual Chinese New Year Festival celebrations at Alberton Rugby Club from 2pm till 9pm. To celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Wood Snake. Tickets available on QUICKET website.


The event will have a variety of craft and food stalls that have been co-ordinated by “The Night Market”. There will be Inflatables and Theme Park Rides for children and Helicopter Flips, plus over 6 hours of live Asian and Local entertainment with performances from Lion and Dragon dancing, and singers! Plus, vehicles on display. The highlight of the evening will definitely be the spectacular musical fireworks display that will be staged by Starburst Pyrotechnics at 8pm to end off the evening.

One of the other activities during the event, will be the awarding of the TCA University Bursary Awards and PK Pon / Sui Hing Hong Best Matric Awards to the most outstanding Chinese students in South Africa.
