There is no slowing down viral hitmaker Ben Rodrigues as he drops his latest single, Tell Me How, a raw and vibrant track that dives into the complexities of a toxic relationship. Following the success of his breakout hit Was It Real, which amassed over 16 million streams without playlisting support and topped South African radio charts, Tell Me How showcases another layer of Ben’s songwriting depth, blending emotional storytelling with the energy of nostalgic pop-rock. Co-written and produced by Devon Murray and Aidin Nortje, the song was inspired by a rediscovered instrumental that sparked an immediate connection. Ben recalls the moment: “The chorus came to life in just ten minutes. I took the instrumental to the beach the next day, where I do most of my writing, and suddenly remembered lyrics from an old song I’d written years ago. It all clicked.”

Tell Me How is part of Ben’s upcoming EP, which examines the five stages of grief in relationships. Representing the “anger” phase, the track channels the emotional intensity of post-breakup reflection. “This song is about navigating the frustrations and misunderstandings that come with modern relationships,” Ben explains. Produced by the same team, made up of Devon Murray and Aidin Nortje, that work on all his other music. “As much as Ben Rodrigues is a solo act, none of this would be possible without my team.”
Ben’s rise to stardom has been nothing short of remarkable. With a growing global fanbase, over 500,000 followers across his social media pages, Ben continues to prove that his journey is only beginning. “This year has been a dream,” he reflects. “Every new project is an opportunity to connect with people and tell my story. I truly believe this is just the start.” As 2024 draws to a close, Ben highlights his favourite memory of the year – “My first headline tour across the country is definitely what comes to mind,” Ben shares. “I was so blessed to be able to do my first tour and it was such an amazing experience to see people that just connect with the music I make. It was a moment of actualisation that these were no longer just words I wrote in my room. It’s an experience I will remember for the rest of my life.”
Fans can catch Ben live as he wraps up the year with a performance in his hometown of St. Francis Bay on December 9. He’ll then join Neon Dreams and Booshle G for the coast-to-coast Dreaming Out Loud Tour, bringing his music to audiences across South Africa.
