South African music producer and DJ sensation Jashmir, celebrated for viral hits like ‘Amaiphone’ and ‘Ma Se Kind’, has brought his unique sound to Sinani, the powerful anthem of solidarity and support for the Springboks. This remix infuses the song’s spirit of unity with a fresh, dynamic Amapiano beat, amplifying its message with rhythmic energy and local authenticity.
Jashmir’s Sinani remix is an electrifying fusion of tradition and innovation, embodying the heart of South African music.
Originally composed by Fancy Galada, Jonny Blundell, and Philip Myburgh, Sinani is a Xhosa song that resonates with South Africans as a message of unity, a rallying cry for solidarity, and a celebration of shared heritage. Written to uplift and encourage the Springboks, Sinani has become known as a “people’s anthem,” uniting fans across the nation with lyrics that reflect the landscapes and spirit of South Africa. As Galada’s vocals convey the pride and loyalty of the abaxhasi (the supporters), the remix brings new energy to the anthem with an Amapiano twist.
Reflecting on the remix, Jashmir said, “At first, I thought it would be a challenge to remix Sinani into Amapiano. But once I got into the feel of it and analyzed the stems, I found a drum pattern that really meshed with the original groove. I added a few Amapiano elements to give it that Yanos vibe.”
Known for pushing genre boundaries, Jashmir aimed to capture a “new wave” Amapiano style by blending African tribal beats with electronic dance synths, creating a track that both honours the song’s roots and reinvents it with bold rhythms.” When the final version was completed, I played it back in studio for my peers and everyone stopped to listen. The song for me is perfect and I cannot wait to put it out”
Raised in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, Jashmir’s journey in music began early. Inspired by his South Indian heritage and mentorship under his grandfather, a DJ, he started performing at community events and eventually became a mainstay in local clubs and radio stations. His debut single Amaiphone went viral in 2020, quickly rising to TikTok fame with over 20 million views. That same year, he was awarded the 031 Award and the City Awards’
Producer of the Year. Since then, Jashmir has become known for blending Amapiano with diverse influences, using his platform to redefine South African soundscapes.
The Sinani remix stands as a fresh homage to South African unity and pride, adding to Jashmir’s portfolio of work that captures the pulse of the nation. The remix captures the emotion and determination of the South African spirit, bringing a new anthem to the field for fans to celebrate.
