SAARKIE – South Africa’s Rock Powerhouse

Formed in 2005, SAARKIE has carved its name into the heart of South Africa’s rock scene with electrifying performances and genre-blending music in both Afrikaans and English. Over the years, they’ve released five studio albums packed with high-energy rock ’n roll and unforgettable live experiences. With nearly two decades of success and numerous accolades, they’re back with a fresh lineup and a new sound, gearing up to release their latest single, Ballade van ‘n Boemelaar, on November 1st, 2024.

Adèle Fouché (Lead Singer, Lead Guitar, Ukulele, Harmonica) continues to drive Saarkie’s powerful sound. A South African music scene veteran, Adèle has kept the band relevant and evolving, maintaining their unique mix of hard-hitting rock with a soulful edge. Her songwriting and passion for music bring a raw authenticity to Saarkie’s tracks.

The revamped trio now features Sam Commons on bass. Sam, a multi-instrumentalist from Pietermaritzburg, adds a depth of musicality honed from years of playing in various bands. His ability to understand music beyond the tools he uses creates a fuller, richer sound for Saarkie. With his background in guitar, vocals, and other instruments, Sam perfectly complements the band’s vibrant energy on stage.

Jaco Kock, the newest addition on drums, is a versatile musician with over 19 years of experience. Hailing from Bloemfontein, Jaco’s drumming has been shaped by everything from metal and rock to reggae and blues. His infectious energy and creative flair bring a fresh rhythm to Saarkie, enhancing the band’s dynamic stage presence.
