Reflecting on the collaboration, Steven Lee Lewis said, “Honestly, it was one of the easiest and quickest collaborations. We both had the same vision and agreed on the direction of the song. It was awesome to work with DJ Cosher again. He’s a beast!”
DJ Cosher echoed the sentiment, sharing, “Steven and I previously worked together on a track called ‘For the Day’ with Cape Town-duo Acoustic Element and the group FOUR (which Steven was part of). That was also a relatively efficient project. We sent the track to them the night before, and they came and recorded the next day. This must’ve been about 7 or 8 years ago, so it’s interesting how time flies. We’ve had a similarly efficient and easy flow process this time around when it was just us. The song with Acoustic Element and FOUR was very successful in its own right, and I’m excited for Seven Nation Army to be equally, if not more, successful.”
The remake stays true to the original’s captivating melody while adding a fresh, modern twist that will have fans dancing from start to finish. Lewis, who has a history of chart-topping performances, was inspired to cover Seven Nation Army due to its global popularity and instantly recognizable melody. “It’s a song that always stood out for me. It’s catchy, and I’ve always wanted to put my own spin on it,” he said.

Despite the track’s complex arrangement, the recording process was remarkably smooth. “DJ Cosher sent me the beat, and it was amazing. I recorded the vocals in Johannesburg and sent them back to him. In no time, we had the song done,” Lewis shared. The result is a dynamic track that mixes multiple vocal takes in the second verse, showcasing Lewis’ versatility and creativity.
