Two of South Africa’s most celebrated ballerinas, Joburg Ballet principals Shannon Glover and Nicole Ferreira-Dill, have announced they will retire from the stage at the end of the upcoming season of La Traviata -The Ballet at the Teatro, Montecasino in early August.
Shannon Glover’s retirement comes as she marks her 20th anniversary with Joburg Ballet while Nicole Ferreira-Dill has been with the company for 17 years. Both have enjoyed acclaimed careers in which they were showcased in many leading roles and brought distinction not only to Joburg Ballet but to ballet in South Africa.
Shannon Glover and Nicole Ferreira-Dill bid farewell to the stage as Camille in La Traviata -The Ballet, a role in which they have distinguished themselves in previous seasons. Glover dances on Friday 2 August at 20h00 and gives her farewell performance on Sunday 4 August at 15h00 partnered by Marlon Sales. Ferreira-Dill dances her only performance in this short season on Saturday 3 August at 15h00 partnered by Bruno Miranda. These performances offer the public the opportunity to see them in a great ballerina role for the last time. They will be honoured onstage at the end of their farewell performances.
