The Cape Town International Animation Festival (CTIAF) is thrilled to announce that it will once again be at the Comic Con Cape Town festival at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). The CTIAF programme is set to take place on Saturday, 27 April, and Sunday, 28 April 2024.
Focused on all things animation, CTIAF promises two days of excitement, creativity, and innovation for animation enthusiasts and professionals and will offer attendees an unparalleled experience featuring practical workshops, networking opportunities, project launches, and more.
This year, CTIAF is proud to present an array of industry-leading speakers and vendors, including, Chaos, and ToonBoom . Attendees can look forward to talks from industry professionals, and stand to gain valuable insights into the world of visual effects (VFX) and animation.
The festival will feature two distinct streams focusing on the creative and technical aspects of animation.
Some programme highlights include a session with Freelives studios who will talk about the Games they are working on, and Daniel Buckland will lead an ‘acting for animation’ session.
Among the speakers are Roland Reyer, Autodesk EMEA Technical Specialist, who will showcase groundbreaking features in animation and modelling in Maya. Additionally, Animation Director Andre De Villiers, known for his work on Disney+ projects like “Moremi” and “Stardust,” will share his expertise on Maya Animation Workflow and offer professional tips.
Chaos will be focusing on community, with the launch of the “Partners in Art“ Campaign; a worldwide platform that helps creatives get their project off the ground. Whether you’re an indie artist, a content creator, a student, or a researcher you can apply for a Chaos grant and get the resources you need. Kim Bussaihn, ToonBoom Solution Specialist & Instructional Designer, will take delegates through ToonBoom’s Storyboard Pro. Sharing insights on how to get ideas down, structure the sequence and elaborate the story so it can be shared, pitched and promoted.
