HOT 102.7FM Set to Change More Lives This Festive Season

A total of 36 lives will be changed by Johannesburg-based radio station HOT 102.7FM this festive season.

That’s the essence of the Hot Cares Christmas, which runs from the fourth to the 14th of December and has become a key feature on the HOT 102.7FM event calendar.

Every day for those nine days, on the HOT 1027 Breakfast, Mid-Mornings with Steve Bishop, Afternoons with Ursula Chikane, and The Big Joburg Drive, HOT 102.7FM will be stepping in to materially change the circumstances of someone who has fallen on hard times, helping them with what they really need.

“Thanks to the generosity of the HOT 102.7FM audience and our partners, we raised an incredible R19.4 million at our recent annual Hot Cares Teddython fundraiser, and this gives us the means to help these people this festive season,” says Lloyd Madurai, Managing Director of HOT 102.7FM. “We’ve been blown away by the response and it’s just incredibly rewarding to be in a position to help just a few people and make it a Christmas to remember for them.”

HOT 102.7FM – South Africa’s fastest-growing radio station – has been calling for nominations for the past few weeks, with listeners encouraged to put forward the name and details of a worthy recipient, with a particular focus on individuals who really could do with a helping hand and some Christmas cheer this festive season.

The response has been overwhelming, with the station receiving thousands of emails, reflecting the tough times we currently live in.

“As a radio station, we believe in using the platform we have to do as much good as possible, and the Hot Cares Christmas is a great example of this,” says Madurai. “It also provides the opportunity for some incredible on-air moments, whilst the listener feedback is always moving, to say the least.”

Hot Cares is a registered non-profit company, with Public Benefit Organisation status, and strives to make a meaningful difference to the lives of those around it. Over the past few years, it has dedicated its efforts to providing much-needed assistance to those who find themselves in difficult circumstances, with a focus on four key areas: humanitarian and welfare, medical, educational, and animal welfare.

Hot Cares runs a weekly soup kitchen for the homeless, helps develop crèches in informal settlements, assists entrepreneurs and NPO’s who require guidance, resources and awareness of their programs, provides medical assistance, assists with educational bursaries for students and the upliftment of schools, supports various animal shelters, and provides assistance to individuals.

The Hot Cares Christmas runs from the fourth to the 14th of December.
