Giselle touches hearts with debut Afrikaans single

Losing someone you love, whether it being due to death or a break-up, can be devastating and make you wish that you could hold and cherish that person just one last time.

With her debut single, DIE LAASTE KEER (The Last Time), talented singer-songwriter Giselle not only captures this emotion with her soulful rendition but also reminds listeners to cherish their loved ones while they’re still here.

Co-written with Hugo Ludik and Emil Paul, this exceptional pop track originally started off as a break-up song but evolved into something deeper and more meaningful. The end result, produced by Muse Productions, resonates deeply with anyone who hears it.

“To me, it means appreciating the people in your life while they’re still around, making the most of each moment, and letting them know what they mean to you. I chose it because it has a strong storyline that makes you contemplate life, but also because of its infectious melody that everyone will enjoy,” Momberg shares about the inspiration behind the song.

While this versatile musician has released several English singles in the past, including In Another Life, she makes her official debut in the Afrikaans industry with DIE LAASTE KEER and hopes that this is the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her music career.

“I’ve already released songs in various genres and will continue to showcase different aspects of myself in the Afrikaans market. My first Afrikaans single will resonate with audiences of all ages, as everyone has experienced loss and can relate to the message,” she explains.

Born in Bloemfontein and raised in Pretoria, Giselle developed a passion for various music genres from a young age, partly due to her grandfather, a renowned opera singer.

She officially entered the music industry at the age of 18 as a member of a rock-metal group, followed by the Latin-American ensemble, Las Chicas. In 2016, she embarked on a solo career, determined to develop her own unique style – a decision she has never regretted.

Though music remains her main focus, the artist also studied film for two years at Oakfield College, mastered Italian through The Italian Institute, and qualified as personal trainer at Trifocus Fitness Academy.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, she achieved a significant milestone by winning Music Marvel’s virtual International Songwriting Competition, a big highlight in her music career.

Offstage, the singer describes herself as an introvert and family-oriented individual with a profound love for animals, especially cats. She strives to maintain a healthy lifestyle and having a positive impact on those around her.

Giselle has great respect and admiration for artists like Samantha Leonard, Bernice West, Elandré, Elvis se Seun, Riana Nel, Snotkop, Miley Cyrus, Freddie Mercury, and Taylor Momsen, and would love to collaborate with Samantha, Miley, or Francois van Coke someday.

With big plans and dreams for the future, including more Afrikaans music and music videos, Giselle aims to share her music with the world and make a significant impact on the music industry.

Song like DIE LAASTE KEER bring her a step closer to achieving this goal.

The single is now available on all digital streaming platforms.
