HOT 102.7FM and Hot Cares have once again made a meaningful difference by playing their part in The Children’s Flight – an event that provides the gift of flight to a group of children who have never flown before.
500 kids from 50 disadvantaged homes got to fly in an aeroplane for the very first time in Magaliesberg on Friday 1 September, and HOT 102.7FM was there, providing the HOT-branded MCC Aviation helicopter and playing a key role in this life-changing event.
“The gift of flight is something many of us take for granted and that’s what made this event so special,” said Lloyd Madurai, Managing Director of HOT 102.7FM. “Just seeing the huge smiles on the faces of the kids made it all worthwhile, and that’s what we’re about – putting smiles on people’s faces, whether it’s playing your favourite ‘Old Skool’ music or playing our part in events like The Children’s Flight.”
Whilst the HOT helicopter was taking to the skies with groups of overly-excited children, HOT 102.7FM’s Steve Bishop was broadcasting live from the Orient Airstrip in Magaliesberg between 09h00 and 12h00, and taking the message of The Children’s Flight to HOT 102.7FM’s audience.
“This is the type of event that resonates with the HOT 102.7FM audience and is exactly the type of work we like to get involved in,” said Carmen Rocha, Managing Director of Hot Cares. “There really is no better and more fulfilling feeling than changing a child’s life for the better, and we are privileged to be able to do that at Hot Cares.”
This was the eighth edition of The Children’s Flight – an event that has brought joy to approximately 4000 kids over the past decade.
“The Children’s Flight partnered with HOT 102.7FM, because it plays Joburg’s best ‘Old Skool’ and R&B, and aviation is an old school tradition,” said Felix Gosher, Co-Founder of The Children’s Flight.
“Aviation really is the ideal tool for spiritual upliftment and this day is about giving under-privileged children unbridled access to aviation, with pilots at their disposal and aeroplanes waiting for them in a VIP arrangement – a day where dreams come true and they get to have their first flight experience.”
HOT 102.7FM plays the best ‘Old Skool’ and R&B music and works hand in hand with Hot Cares, including looking for opportunities to partner with events like The Children’s Flight – events that further the Hot Cares goal of making a meaningful difference to the lives of those around us.
