Navigating the business of commercialized art can be a daunting, and sometimes dangerous undertaking. With over 25 years of experience in the business, Re.decay are committed to sharing their knowledge, championing independent music, and bridging the gap between Africa and Europe.
After a selection process to ensure the right mix of talent, 12 successful applicants can expect a camp jam packed with collaboration, workshops and support from industry partners. Selected works will be executive produced by Re.decay and released on RDK Records.
With 3 workshops, freedom to create, transparent contracts, a listening party to connect with other industry professionals, and all catering needs provided for; this is an opportunity not to be missed.
“In addition to creating an environment where we can all be creative and learn from each other musically, this camp will feature workshops designed to foster an understanding of the music industry. Insights from a wide range of industry professionals will provide a transparent view of the difficulties that come with entering such a competitive field, sparking thoughts and conversation about important topics like creativity, self-worth, female empowerment, and organized finances,” explains Emanuel Bender of Re.decay.
Re.decay has teamed up with various partners for this camp including Jazzworx Studios, Africa Rising Music Conference (ARMC) and Ableton to mention a few.
“One of the core themes of ARMC is to build bridges. We are happy to have introduced Re.decay to various local partners and delighted to be supporting this amazing initiative,” expresses Sarah Jane Nicholson, founder of ARMC.
Camp Philosophy
First and foremost, the camp will be focused on writing, producing, and releasing great music. Each day of the camp will be centered around artists, producers, and musicians coming together to share their talents and collaborate in an unobstructed and supportive environment. Armed with an extensive knowledge base rooted in first hand experience, Re.decay aim to help artists deepen their understanding of the industry as they advance to more professional levels in their careers.
The camp will give all artists fair shares of profits, transparent contracts, and credit for any of their work that will be selected for release. Re.decay hopes this will serve as a model for camp participants as they seek fair deals for their music in the future.
